We’ve heard of a new WannaCry decryption tool. Whether you’re a home PC user or running a business, ransomware creates all kind of pain in terms of lost time, worry and money if you don’t have good recoverable backups of your data. This has been the case with WannaCry but fortunately, a security researcher has found a way of getting the locked files back.
As reported on The Hacker News, “Adrien Guinet, a French security researcher from Quarkslab, has discovered a way to retrieve the secret encryption keys used by the WannaCry ransomware for free, which works on Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and 2008 operating systems”.
Details of the tool and process you need to follow can be found here on The Hacker News website.
We’ve not tested the process or tool so can’t vouch for how it works.
